It’s hard to believe, it’s time for my very last hip surgery. Today I get the screws removed from my left hip, and that’s it, the last one! I’m pretty unsure about what the recovery will be like, because I’ve heard and read many different things. I’ve read that some people use crutches for a…
Running Again !
Yes! I am running again! On Friday, I had an appointment with my surgeon, and I was officially cleared to start running, jumping, and playing volleyball again – no restrictions!! I know I haven’t written on here in forever, and I honestly don’t know if anyone reads these anymore anyway, but I just have to…
Weight-bearing Again!!
It has been quite the journey… Although the journey is far from over, I have entered an exciting new part of it! Last week, I had my 6 week post-op appointment (actually 7 weeks, because the holidays caused my appointments to be moved later), and I was cleared to start weight-bearing!!! I tried to go…
Only… 5 Weeks… already?
Yesterday marked my 5th week since surgery. Recovery is such a strange thing… It goes fast and slow at the same time. Every day feels long and repetitive, almost like living the same day over and over… But then, the days feel short when I’m sitting on the couch at night, trying to pick a…
First regular post-op appointment
3 weeks after leaving the hospital… Kait had X-rays, which show that everything is in the right place and there are signs that the bones will be fusing together properly. Her allergic reaction has not completely resolved, so she will likely need to see a dermatologist about that. She has done a great job of…
Saturday, day 17
It seems like so much longer than 2 1/2 weeks since Kaitlyn’s surgery. (Maybe because so much of this year has been devoted to recovery?) But we are reminded how early in the recovery she is when she over does it, like she did yesterday. Traditions and family time are very important to Kait, so…
Monday (day 13)
Much is the same. Though the allergic reaction seems to have mostly cleared on Kait’s face, it is still pretty angry near her incisions and itchy on her legs. Despite this miserable complication, she is not complaining. We have been in touch with her surgical team daily. Thank you for continuing to pray for her!
Friday evening
Kaitlyn has been having some kind of reaction on her left leg and bleeding under her bandages. I have been in touch with her surgical team daily and the decision was made that they would remove the bandages next Monday. This is a difficult thing for her (you might remember the incident after the last…
Friday morning
Back at U-M for wound and allergic reaction checks.
Thursday update
This has been one of the harder days of Kait’s recovery so far. Her pain has increased and she is reacting to something that has caused a large breakout that began near her incision but has spread down her left leg and up onto her belly. It is uncomfortable and itchy. She has also been…
